Abstract

Language:

There are currently 19 super-large blast furnaces exceeding 4000 m³ operating in China, which have achieved significant advancements in low carbon operation in recent years. This paper aims to elucidate the low carbon operation technologies relevant to these super-large blast furnaces, focusing on two critical areas: raw materials preparation and blast furnace operation. In terms of raw materials preparation, the technologies discussed include the production of low SiO₂ content and high reducibility sinter to minimize slag volume and enhance metallurgical properties, optimizing coal blending for coking to ensure high coke quality, and utilizing yard blending to stabilize operations. Furthermore, controlling harmful element loads to mitigate damage to coke, implementing screening techniques to reduce dust, and recycling small size sinter and other materials are also highlighted to improve energy efficiency. Regarding blast furnace operation, improvements in gas utilization efficiency through various adjustments are explored, including charging mode modifications and control of blast parameters. Additional strategies discussed involve the implementation of comprehensive blast technology, managing thermal loads, and the development of visualization technology to ensure smooth, long-term operations of the blast furnaces.
