Abstract

Language:

This document presents a feasibility study on the production of gold at the fictitious Moapa mine located in Elko County, Nevada. The primary objective is to assess the economic viability of the mine, which has the capacity to produce 325,800 tons of high-grade ore annually for eight years, containing 0.12 ounces of gold per ton. The study employs a sodium cyanide process for gold extraction, favored over heap leaching due to higher recovery rates. Key methodologies include analyzing the break-even price of gold necessary for profitability, which is currently around $300 per ounce. The results indicate that using agitation leaching is more efficient for this ore type. The document further details the size reduction processes and various milling techniques involved in preparing the ore for leaching. Findings suggest that the integration of these processing techniques can potentially enhance gold recovery, though current projections indicate an overall unprofitable operation at existing gold prices. Further analysis and adjustments will be required to optimize the operation and ensure financial viability.
