This research investigates the application of Design of Experiment (DOE) for performing cyanide amenability studies of gold ores, aiming to optimize gold recovery. The objective is to identify the most effective operational parameters for the cyanidation process, which traditionally relies on one-factor-at-a-time (OFAT) experiments that are often time-consuming and costly. Through DOE, this study evaluates multiple variables concurrently, allowing a more efficient determination of the optimal conditions for leaching time, cyanide concentration, and particle size, among others. The methodology involves conducting a series of carefully designed experiments to assess the interactions between the variables and their effects on gold dissolution. Results indicate that employing DOE significantly improves the efficiency and efficacy of the cyanidation process, leading to enhanced gold recovery rates while reducing operational costs. The findings underline the importance of a systematic approach in optimizing mineral processing methods, demonstrating that DOE is a valuable alternative to traditional experimental designs in mining science. The ability to manage multiple factors in a reduced number of trials not only saves resources but also delivers more comprehensive insights into the cyanidation process.
