This report evaluates the effectiveness of acidic pressure oxidation parameters on the gold extraction from Fimistons flotation concentrate, representing a collaborative effort between AMMTEC LTD and Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines Pty Ltd. The objective of the study was to determine how varying operating parameters such as sample grind, oxidation temperature, and levels of sulphide oxidation influence gold recovery. To achieve this, a series of laboratory testworks were performed, including acid pressure oxidation tests and subsequent cyanidation leach tests on the oxidised residues. The results demonstrated that higher levels of sulphide oxidation significantly enhance gold extraction, with optimal conditions identified across various grind sizes. Cyanidation tests further corroborated these findings, showing a direct correlation between grind size and gold recovery rates. Overall, the study establishes a robust framework for optimizing gold extraction processes in mining operations, highlighting the critical interaction between oxidation chemistry and metallurgical performance. Subsequent recommendations for further research and optimization practices are also discussed, aiming to improve gold recovery efficiencies in similar systems.
