The voltage distribution of insulator strings, common in overhead transmission systems, is significantly uneven, making its calculation crucial for effective insulator design. This paper investigates how insulator material and geometry influence voltage distribution, a topic that has not been thoroughly explored in previous research. Through simulations of various 230-kV insulator strings composed of different porcelain and glass units, the study compares voltage distributions across these types. Furthermore, it examines the impact of corona rings on potential distribution within these insulator strings. The results reveal a clear dependency of voltage distribution on both the insulator material and its profile, highlighting the importance of careful selection in insulator design for improved operational safety and reliability in transmission lines.
