This thesis presents an experimental evaluation and thermomechanical analysis of a seal integrated with a micro heat exchanger. The primary objective was to investigate the performance attributes of hard surface coatings under thermomechanical stress conditions. Methodologically, various coating samples were subjected to wear testing and the wear groove cross-section area was computed based on depth measurements. The volume loss due to wear was calculated by averaging multiple measurements, which allowed for the determination of the wear rate. Results indicated significant changes in the wear characteristics with respect to the type of coating used, offering insights into the suitability of different coatings in applications involving micro heat exchangers. The findings underscore the importance of material selection in engineering designs aimed at enhancing thermal management efficiency. This work contributes to the field of mechanical engineering by providing a comprehensive understanding of the interplay between surface coatings and thermomechanical properties, which is vital for optimizing the performance of seals in various engineering applications.
