This doctoral dissertation summarizes the research activity carried out during the author's Ph.D. studies in Science and Materials Engineering at the University of Trento. The objective was to improve the service life of organic coatings by exploring the aesthetic and protective durability through collaboration with industrial partners like Akzo Nobel Coatings and PPG Industries. The methodology involved two parts: the first focused on polyester powder coatings for architectural applications, while the second was dedicated to clear-coats for automotive applications, developed under the supervision of Prof. Jamil Baghdachi at Eastern Michigan University. Results indicated significant advancements in the performance and longevity of the coatings, thereby meeting industry standards for durability and aesthetics. This research provides valuable insights into the formulation and application of advanced coatings in diverse environments.
