The electrowinning of zinc is significantly influenced by metallic impurities and the presence of organic addition agents. This study investigates the impacts of various metallic impurities, such as nickel, cobalt, and antimony, individually and in combination, on current efficiency and deposit purity. Moreover, the influence of addition agents including fish glue, avitone, gelatin, and sodium lignin sulphonate on deposit morphology and efficiency is examined. Findings reveal that the combination of cobalt and antimony is detrimental to the electrowinning process, while the presence of nickel has an even more adverse effect, leading to decreased current efficiency and poor deposit resolution. In contrast, the addition of avitone notably enhances current efficiency and improves the quality of the zinc deposit. The research highlights the complex interactions between metallic impurities and additive agents, suggesting that the right combination can optimize the electrowinning of zinc and mitigate the negative impact of impurities. Additionally, these results offer insights into industrial applications, potentially guiding improvements in the efficiency of zinc production processes.
