A comparative study of the economic benefits that can be obtained from different degrees of power factor correction for medium and small scale industrial installations is presented. The objective of this thesis is to propose a new approach for precise calculation of kW and kVARs required at different power factors. This methodology involves calculating these values to assess the return on investments for capacitors needed for power factor correction. The results indicate that the developed method is not only easy to use and cost-effective, but also ensures accuracy, thus enabling electrical engineers with minimal knowledge of power systems to ascertain the savings accrued from enhancing the power factor of industrial loads. The findings emphasize the importance of power factor correction in reducing operational costs and improving energy efficiency in industrial settings.
