The increasing concentrations of metallic Al or Al2O3 in secondary copper resources like electronic wastes motivate research into the slag chemistry of high-Al2O3 iron silicate slags for optimizing the industrial smelting process. In this study, the effect of Al2O3 in slag on the phase equilibria of the FeO-SiO2-Al2O3 system at 1200 °C and an oxygen partial pressure of 10^-8.6 atm was investigated using experimental methods and thermodynamic modeling. The results show that the addition of Al2O3 significantly influences the phase transitions and stability of the slag system, demonstrating changes in the equilibrium phases present and their compositions. This research provides valuable insights into the thermodynamic behavior of slag systems relevant for aluminum-containing materials in smelting operations, aiding in the enhancement of resource efficiency and environmental performance in the metallurgical industry.
