Electrostatic separation presents an effective and environmentally friendly way for recycling metals and nonmetals from ground waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). For this process, the trajectory of conductive particles is significant, and some models have been established. However, the results of previous researches are limited by some simplifying assumptions, leading to a notable discrepancy between the model prediction and the experimental results. The present research utilized a roll-type corona-electrostatic separator and ground printed circuit board (PCB) wastes to investigate the trajectory of conductive particles. Two factors, the air drag force and the different charging situations, were introduced into an improved model. Their effects were analyzed, resulting in an improved model for the theoretical trajectory of the conductive particles. Compared with the previous one, this improved model shows good agreement with the experimental results. It provides positive guidance for the design of separators and advances the recycling of metals and nonmetals from WEEE.
