This study investigated how learning mathematics in a sports-related context influenced Year 10 students’ attitudes toward the subject. Data were collected from 54 students using a closed-ended, self-reported Likert-scale questionnaire administered before and after instruction. Each statement was analyzed by comparing the percentage of students’ agreement or disagreement across three attitude components: engagement, confidence, and awareness of the value of mathematics. The findings indicated that learning mathematics in a sporting setting increased students’ confidence, their recognition of the importance of mathematics in daily life and further study, and their overall engagement and enjoyment in mathematics lessons. The study suggests that contextualizing mathematics in relevant, sports-based activities can reduce anxiety, improve comfort with problem solving, and foster more positive attitudes toward learning. Implications for educators, teachers, and researchers include the value of integrating authentic, sports-related contexts into mathematics instruction to enhance students’ attitudes and participation.
