Cobalt sulphide thin films were prepared by electrodeposition technique on conducting glass and stainless steel substrates at varying bath temperatures. The films were synthesized through a non-aqueous medium using cobalt sulphate and sodium thiosulphate as initial ingredients, deposited in different volume ratios. The structural, optical, and microscopic characteristics of these films were thoroughly examined, revealing that they are polycrystalline with a hexagonal structure and an optical bandgap of 0.78 eV. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) studies demonstrated a rough surface morphology and well-defined grains in the films. The findings of this investigation indicate that the electrodeposition method is a viable and effective approach to synthesizing cobalt sulphide thin films, which are promising candidates for applications in optoelectronic devices and electrical storage systems. The successful characterization of these films underlines their potential for future technological advancements in solar selective coatings and infrared detectors.
