Abstract

Language:

The rapid increase in urbanization and industrialization has led to the construction of numerous large-scale buildings and factories, resulting in an increased demand for concrete. This growing requirement has caused a scarcity of natural resources essential for concrete production, particularly cement, fine aggregates, and coarse aggregates. Cement production notably contributes to environmental degradation through carbon emissions as a by-product of the hydration process. Concurrently, crushed black stones originating from gold mining operations present a significant environmental challenge due to their accumulation and potential air pollution caused by fine particulate release. This study aims to explore the potential use of gold mine waste as an innovative substitute for traditional coarse aggregates in concrete production. By examining the properties of gold mine waste, including its composition and suitability for construction purposes, the research assesses the viability of this waste in terms of compressive strength, flexural strength, and durability of concrete. The findings suggest that utilizing gold mine waste can mitigate environmental impacts while addressing the increasing requirement for construction materials, ultimately providing a sustainable solution for the concrete industry.
