This paper discusses the development of a new titanium alloy, Ti-11, which was introduced to enhance the performance of titanium materials in elevated temperature applications, particularly above 1000°F. Historically, titanium alloys such as Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo have been utilized for high-temperature environments, yet limitations in creep resistance have hindered further advancements. The objective of this research is to evaluate and demonstrate the superior properties of Ti-11 compared to existing alloys, focusing on its creep resistance, metallurgical stability, and suitability for gas turbine engine applications. Through extensive testing and customer evaluations, the alloy's composition was refined to include critical elements, such as bismuth and silicon, which contribute to its strength and stability under extreme conditions. The results indicate that Ti-11 exhibits excellent stability and performance up to and beyond the 1000°F threshold, providing a promising alternative to traditional titanium alloys. Thus, Ti-11 is poised to significantly enhance the durability and efficiency of high-temperature applications in aerospace and other industries.
