The Ore Treatment Unit (OTU) located at the source of three rivers: Ribeirão das Antas, Ribeirão do Soberbo, and Córrego da Consulta, has been monitored for radionuclide release into the environment. This study aims to analyze the average annual uranium releases from the OTU over a historical period from 1999 to 2011. Weekly sampling was conducted at two points, 014 and 025, while point 076 underwent monthly collection. Results revealed average uranium release at points 014 and 025 was 0.12 Bq L -1, whereas point 076 showed a higher average of 1.27 Bq L -1. An Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) determined statistically significant differences among the means of the different sampling points. The Student's t-test further confirmed that the averages at points 014 and 025 were identical, but the release at point 076 was significantly higher than at points 014 and 025. Thus, findings indicate varying levels of uranium release through the river systems influenced by the Ore Treatment Unit, emphasizing the need for ongoing environmental monitoring.
