This study presents a new semi-analytical model aimed at predicting the surface temperature of the strand during the continuous casting process of steel within the mold region. The objective of this research is to enhance the accuracy of temperature prediction, which plays a critical role in controlling the solidification process and ensuring the quality of the produced steel. The methodology involves utilizing existing analytical models and heat transfer theories to establish a relationship between the interfacial temperature of the steel shell and the influence of several operational parameters on heat flux. The resulting model incorporates various factors, including surface temperatures, to establish a more reliable prediction of strand surface temperatures. Results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed semi-analytical model, which not only aligns closely with empirical data but also shows improved predictions in comparison to traditional methods. The findings suggest that this model could significantly aid in the real-time monitoring and control of the continuous casting process, ultimately contributing to the reduction of defects in the final steel product.
