Abstract

Language:

The industrial manufacture of tube and pipe has evolved significantly since the inception of rolling mill technology in the early 19th century. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the various manufacturing processes involved in the production of seamless steel tubes and pipes. The methodology includes a detailed examination of different rolling processes such as pierce and pilger, plug, and continuous mandrel rolling, as well as downstream cold forming techniques and welding processes employed in tube and pipe manufacturing. The results highlight the advancements in seamless techniques and the increasing production volumes that have been realized due to these innovations in processing methods. The ongoing development and refinement of these techniques underscore their importance in meeting the demands of modern industrial applications. Overall, this work presents a synthesis of historical context, contemporary methods, and outcomes relevant to steel tube and pipe manufacturing processes.
