This publication examines the balance between profitability and sustainability in gold mining, a sector generating significant revenues for both public and private domains. The objective of this study is to assess the potential for managing extraction rates to continue yielding profits without depleting natural resources. Through a review of mining practices, the methodology highlights the environmental impacts associated with mining, including erosion, sedimentation, and dust emissions containing toxic metals. Results indicate that while efficient and well-regulated operations can minimize some negative effects on the environment, mining activities inevitably have adverse consequences. The findings suggest that strategic management of extraction processes is essential to sustain both the economic benefits and the ecological integrity of mining regions.
