Abstract

Language:

This comprehensive review explores the experimental methods, health indicators, and diagnostic strategies pertinent to retired lithium-ion batteries. The objective of the study is to synthesize existing knowledge and propose effective methodologies for assessing the health and improving the recycling processes of these batteries. A thorough literature review was conducted, focusing on various health assessment techniques, health indicators, and diagnostic pathways utilized in evaluating the performance and lifespan of retired lithium-ion batteries. The results reveal a range of diagnostic techniques, covering electrochemical performance, impedance, and thermal indicators, which are essential for developing reliable health grading systems. Additionally, the review highlights current challenges in battery utilization and emphasizes the importance of accurate health assessments in enhancing battery recycling strategies. Furthermore, the study discusses practical implications and future directions for research in this field, providing insights on improving battery performance and sustainability. This review aims not only to inform researchers and practitioners but also to contribute to the broader discourse on energy storage device management and environmental implications.
