Abstract

Language:

This dissertation explores the sustainable management of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) following their use in electric vehicles (EVs). The objective is to evaluate current practices and propose improved systems for the post-consumer phase of LIBs aimed at minimizing environmental impact and resource depletion. The methodology includes a comprehensive literature review, case studies, and an analysis of existing recycling technologies. Results indicate that existing recycling methods are often inefficient and underutilized, leading to significant losses of valuable materials. The dissertation recommends developing a circular economy approach to LIBs that emphasizes recycling and reuse, alongside policy enhancements to support sustainable practices. This research contributes to the understanding of effective management strategies for LIBs, paving the way for more sustainable practices in the automotive industry.
