Abstract

Language:

Today’s modern world is dependent on various types of advanced technological breakthroughs that are making our life more productive as well as comfortable. In simple terms, inexpensive and reliable electricity is critical to the sustained economic growth and security of any nation. This study presents a theoretical investigation of hydropower and thermal energy generation. It highlights the fact that around 90% of electricity globally is produced from power plants utilizing steam as an energy source, while only 10% is generated from hydroelectric power plants. The paper categorizes power plants based on their energy input modes, including hydroelectric, fossil fuel-fired, and nuclear power plants. It discusses the economic aspects, indicating that while hydropower plants have higher initial costs, they offer lower maintenance expenses and are a cleaner energy source compared to thermal power plants, which contribute to air pollution. The involvement of technical skills in installing hydropower plants is acknowledged as more significant than that in thermal power generation. Overall, this study reviews the essential characteristics and efficiency of hydropower and thermal energy generation, emphasizing the advantages of hydroelectric power as a renewable and sustainable energy resource.
