This study investigates various methods for harvesting copper from stainless steel mother plates, emphasizing the fundamental and operational perspectives of the process. Five distinct harvesting techniques are identified, each significantly affecting product quality, current efficiency, current distribution, growth morphology, and ease of stripping. The research delves into the underlying principles of each method to clarify the effects observed during harvesting. Through operational experiences from plants employing these techniques, the relevance of these fundamental principles is corroborated. Additionally, best practices in harvesting methods and management are articulated, demonstrating their critical role in optimizing copper quality. The analysis also highlights how live harvesting influences product quality by maintaining current levels, minimizing damage to both anodes and cathodes, and addressing potential contaminations resulting from reverse currents during the electrochemical processes. As various quality parameters such as sulphur, lead contamination, and stripping ease are evaluated, this comprehensive examination aims to enhance the understanding and efficacy of copper electrowinning practices.
