The Theory of Constraints (TOC) has become one of the greatest solutions in industries of developed countries, yet developing countries struggle to fully utilize this transformative concept. This study aims to evaluate the application of TOC in South Africa, specifically within the Lonmin platinum mine. Despite South Africa's position as one of the most developed nations in Africa, the potential benefits of TOC remain underexplored. Utilizing a case study methodology, significant resources dedicated to the implementation of TOC at the Lonmin mine are analyzed. The findings indicate that while there is a commitment to advancing TOC principles, substantive gaps still exist in maximizing its benefits to enhance productivity and efficiency. The research reveals that TOC can play a pivotal role in transforming industrial operations when effectively integrated within the organizational framework. By focusing on the bottlenecks and employing TOC tools, such as the thinking process and drum buffer rope, organizations can better navigate their challenges and optimize performance. This study contributes to the understanding of TOC's impact in a developing context, highlighting necessary steps to bridge the existing gaps for future success.
