The inherently porous structure of the anodized aluminum alloys can significantly compromise their corrosion resistance in various environments. In this study, we develop a novel approach to address this challenge by electrodepositing graphene oxide (GO) onto the anodic oxide (AO) film of aluminum alloys, followed by the assembly of layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanosheets on the GO/AO substrate. The resulting LDH-GO/AO hybrid coating shows superior corrosion protection, achieving a remarkable protection efficiency of 97.89%. Characterization reveals uniform distribution of the GO film and LDH nanosheets across the surface, effectively sealing the pores of the AO film. The synergistic interaction between the GO and LDH components provides a robust barrier against corrosive attack, significantly enhancing the durability of anodized aluminum alloys. This study offers a promising strategy for improving the corrosion resistance of aluminum alloys in harsh environments, with potential applications in aerospace, automotive, and marine industries.
