Different methods for fabrication of nanostructured composite powders were investigated. Nanoscale W-25%Cu composite powders were synthesized by thermochemical process using metallic salt precursors. The synthesized powders provided homogeneous distribution along with fine uniform microstructure. Also the effect of the SiC particles volume fraction on the structure and elemental diffusion of Al-4.5wt%Cu/SiC nanocomposites synthesized via mechanical milling (MM) process was evaluated. Results revealed that increasing the SiC particles volume fraction gives rise to increasing the micro-strain, lattice parameter and decreasing the crystallite size. The size of SiC particles after 5h milling time was ≈55nm and ≈45nm for Al-4.5%Cu/4vol.%SiC and Al-4.5%Cu/8vol.%SiC respectively.
