This document discusses the research and development of a low-cost fabrication process for titanium components aimed at meeting the needs of the U.S. Army. The objective is to establish efficient methodologies for creating titanium parts using advanced techniques such as 3D printing. The methodology involves the preparation and modification of printing machines, characterization of titanium alloys and powders, as well as development of printing and binder formulations. The research also examines safety considerations in titanium processing, particularly concerning combustion and explosibility risks. Results highlight the challenges and considerations related to powder spreading, binder testing, and thermal processing, providing insight into the best practices for efficient manufacturing of titanium components. The outcomes of the project aim to enhance the U.S. Army's capabilities in producing durable and lightweight materials for various applications.
