Abstract

Language:

A practical model based on the Hill analysis has been developed to calculate the Lankford value of interstitial free (IF) steels and its distribution in different rolling directions, by considering only a few selected texture components. The Texture Intensity Ratio (TIR), i.e. (111)/(100), was used in the model to describe texture. By using the new TIR parameter, the texture-based prediction models can be used more easily to predict the Lankford value in a rather straightforward way. Various experiments on several composition combinations of both commercial IF steel hot bands and cold rolled and annealed sheets were conducted to determine the coefficients needed for the model. The Lankford value was assessed through tension tests, measuring the response of samples cut in multiple directions relative to the rolling direction. The results indicated that the model successfully predicts the Lankford value, aligning well with experimental data obtained across different sample compositions and orientations.
