This study investigates the effects of pulse plating parameters on the composition and characteristics of Ni-Cu alloy coatings deposited from a citrate bath. The objective is to understand how variations in pulse time and average current density control the deposit's composition. The methodology includes experimental analysis of microhardness, corrosion resistance, and roughness of the coatings produced. Results indicate that the microhardness and corrosion resistance depend mainly on the composition of the deposit, while roughness is significantly influenced by the pulse parameters used. Enhanced deposit brightness and reduced roughness were observed under optimal pulse plating conditions, highlighting an improvement over direct current plating methods. Additionally, the corrosion resistance of the deposits was found to be improved as well. This research elucidates the potential of pulse plating in producing high-quality Ni-Cu alloy coatings for various applications.
