This dissertation investigates the leaching behavior of copper and cobalt from sulfide ores using a sulfuric acid-sodium chloride media. The objective of the study is to evaluate the efficiency of the leaching process and to identify the optimal conditions for the extraction of these metals. A comprehensive experimental methodology was employed, involving the preparation of sulfide ore samples, followed by systematic leaching experiments under controlled conditions. Factors such as temperature, concentration of sulfuric acid, and sodium chloride were varied to assess their impact on metal recovery. The results indicated that the combination of sulfuric acid and sodium chloride significantly enhances the leaching rates of copper and cobalt, with optimal conditions yielding a substantial increase in metal recovery compared to traditional methods. Kinetic studies conducted during the experiments revealed the influence of temperature on the reaction rates, demonstrating that higher temperatures facilitate a more efficient leaching process. This research contributes valuable insights into the extraction metallurgy of copper and cobalt, offering potential improvements to metal recovery processes in the mining industry. The findings underscore the importance of optimizing leaching conditions to maximize resource recovery from sulfide ores.
