In this study, titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles were modified with graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) through a chemisorption process to enhance their photocatalytic activity for the removal of Remazol Black B (RBB) dye from aqueous solutions. Characterization of the modified TiO2 was performed using various techniques including infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. The photocatalytic performance of GO/TiO2 and rGO/TiO2 nanocomposites was thoroughly evaluated under various conditions including pH, adsorbent dosage, dye concentration, and contact time in batch experiments. The results demonstrated that both GO/TiO2 and rGO/TiO2 can extend the absorption of light into the visible spectrum, thus activating photocatalysis under visible-light irradiation. Notably, the degradation efficiency of RBB reached an impressive 99.9%. Furthermore, the photocodegradation kinetics aligned well with the pseudo-first-order model, indicating a strong potential for these nanocomposites in wastewater treatment applications.
