Renewable raw materials, specifically biomass, serve as a foundation for advancing industry towards the principles of green chemistry and sustainability. This paper aims to explore the potential of biomass as a viable alternative to fossil resources for energy generation and as a feedstock for industrial chemistry. Various forms of biomass, while essential for human nutrition and animal feed, can also be strategically utilized in other applications, provided that their use is balanced. The study highlights that the residue from nutrient extraction can be repurposed as feedstock, illustrating several applications for biomass-based materials such as adhesives, textiles, cosmetics, cleaning agents, coatings, and dietary supplements. In light of the increasing urgency for sustainable practices, driven by consumer demand and regulatory frameworks, the role of biomass in green chemistry is underscored as pivotal for the future of sustainable industrial processes.
